The link you posted looks like a very valuable resource. Thanks for the replies- all is helpful.

Most of the people I work with are already in to food storage and looking for one year and two year plans.

I spent about 4 hours last night looking at what was in a package for a family of 5 from several different companies including SR and went from there. I had her fax me all the food she wanted for her family and then did my best to figure out what 9 people would need for one year. She wanted for two years but we are going to put one order in at at time.

I am grateful to be able to help each other with resources and ideas.

Thanks again.

What you may have to do is have the customer pick what the main items that he/she wants in their storage, i.e. what meats, tvp, beans, fruits, veggies and if any staples and manually figure it based on recommended amounts for that specific amount of time. If SR doesnt give basic amount recommended look at an LDS site or foodstoragemadeeasy.net (they have a spreadsheet download that might help for talleying amounts)

http://modernsurvivalonline.com/survival-database-downloads/food-storage/ The Food Storage Guide and the Food Storage for One Year downloads have the basic requirements.

I think you are just gonna have to put a pencil to it! GOOD LUCK!!

I think this would be hard to figure out because the weight of each can is different. I have found the longer the time period they are willing to gather the better the distribution of items. I remind them this is a starting point - you would comfortably survive with this but go in add some of your other favorites, desserts, veggies etc. to create an even more customized plan.

Does anyone have any good resources for creating a food storage plan for families in number 10 cans - not in pounds?

The family planner is difficult to work with in terms of giving little variety and very high quantities of grains. Food storage packages are similar although they do give you a good starting or reference point and do work well for some people.

I need to create a plan for a family of 9 and it has been a challenge.

Any ideas are appreciated.
